From one Liz to another ‘well done’, and what an inspirational journey; I admire you greatly. I solo walked the North Downs Way earlier this year but used overnight accommodation which I understand is less easy to do on the South Downs Way. I love the freedom and challenges of walking on my own so it’s great to see someone my age doing it really well. Keep walking!!

Well done! We really enjoyed the vids. We did the SDW about 6 years ago and have forgotten most of it, so this was a nice refresher. Might even attempt it again soon. I hope you get out and do some more long distance walking this year!

Thanks for the shoutout!! Im enjoying your walk. I think you mentioned this is your first time backpacking? My first time 3 years ago, my pack was 45 - 50 lbs cause I thought I needed EVERYTHING!! I brought too much clothes, too much food, carry too much water. Water is heavy! But with experience, you will figure out that you dont need much. Enjoy the adventure and live simply. Now my pack weighs between 25 lbs - 33 lbs. 33 lbs usually with 5 days of food. Its not so ultralight but i am strong and can carry 30 lbs and not feel it. If you have time to watch my Cape Wrath Trail Gear List video, I showed everything I bring backpacking in the UK for 6 weeks. When I am not backpacking, I work out to gain strength. :) i cant wait to watch the rest of your walk!! :)

Liz, you are my hero! When i saw your first video, i thought that you were my age, but what a brave woman to do that long hike alone! You really should have done that trip woth a friend! For safty! I used to backpack in the Sierras when i was younger. I saw another video of two men doing that same route on ebikes. It was a slog for them, but you are just brilliant! Than i realize that you are Louie's mother! Ive been watching Louis and Raya's videos when they were exploring south America and living in Venice, California! I can see where he gets his sense of adventure from! Thank you for sharing your journey!

I am just catching up with you again but thought I'd start with your South Downs Way (doing it all in the wrong order!) as my son Matt and wife Sophie did some South Downs Way vlogs of their own during the beginning of the pandemic! I have so missed your vlogs so will enjoy following this walk and finding out what you've been up to! (I am envious of your energy and fitness levels - no way could I attempt a walk like this on my own!) ^_^

enjoying the vlogs !!! and following your walk !!..would love to do this but as I am on the west coast of Vancouver island it would be alot to get over to the uk ..I could always do the west coast trail but that would be a grind there are over 70 ladders on the trail and being over 50 it would have to take some training but it is do able ..

Thanks for the sharing your walk! On the only through walk I've ever done, in Scotland, I started with a pack of over 20kg and ended with it under 10kg.
